Double Switch is a 1993 interactive movie adventure game published by Digital Pictures for the Sega CD and Mega-CD. It was developed and directed by D. W. Bradley, who had previously created the adventure game Night Trap for the same console. The game features live-action footage of actors in full motion video (FMV) sequences, which are integrated into an adventure game framework that requires players to solve puzzles in order to progress in the story.

The game is set in a large apartment building owned by Edward Blake, a reclusive millionaire who has recently died under mysterious circumstances. His niece Nicole, along with her friend Gary, have come to investigate his death and uncover the secrets of the building. As they explore, they discover that each of its seven levels contains mysteries linked to Edward’s past and his eccentric family members. In order to progress further into the building, they must solve puzzles using clues found throughout each level while also avoiding traps set by Edward’s brother Henry and his henchmen.

Players take control of two security cameras located on each floor of the building in order to observe events occurring within it and use their camera’s switches to activate various devices around them in order to help Nicole and Gary solve puzzles or avoid danger. The cameras can be switched between floors at any time as well as zoomed in on certain areas for better viewing.

Throughout Double Switch’s story mode, players must switch between cameras strategically in order to accomplish tasks such as unlocking doors or disabling traps while also keeping an eye out for suspicious characters who may be trying to interfere with Nicole and Gary’s investigation. They must also be aware of how much time is left on each level before Henry or one of his henchmen arrive on scene and attempt to capture them or sabotage their efforts.

In addition to its story mode, Double Switch also includes an arcade mode which challenges players with a series of timed mini-games using the same mechanics from its story mode but with more complex objectives such as finding hidden objects or setting off alarms without being seen by Henry or his henchmen. This mode provides an extra layer of challenge for those looking for something more than just a linear FMV experience while still retaining its core gameplay elements from before.

Overall, Double Switch is an innovative interactive movie adventure game that offers up plenty of replay value thanks to its varied gameplay mechanics across both its story and arcade modes which keeps things fresh throughout multiple playthroughs. With its unique blend of action-adventure puzzle solving combined with live-action FMV sequences, it stands out from other games released at the time and remains enjoyable even today thanks to its timeless premise and intriguing plotline that will keep players engaged until the end.
