WWF Super WrestleMania is a professional wrestling video game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. The game was developed by Sculptured Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment. It is based on the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as WWE, and features superstars from that era such as Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart and Ted DiBiase.
The gameplay of WWF Super WrestleMania follows the traditional format of a wrestling match, with two players taking control of a wrestler each in order to grapple and pin their opponent. Each wrestler has a range of moves they can perform, including punches, kicks, throws and submission holds. Special moves can also be performed by inputting specific button combinations while your wrestler is in close proximity to their opponent. There are several different match types available to play including singles matches, tag team matches and Royal Rumble matches which involve four players attempting to eliminate each other until only one remains in the ring. Players can also choose between playing as either a babyface (good guy) or heel (bad guy), each with their own distinct set of moves and strategies.
WWF Super WrestleMania features several modes of play including Exhibition Mode where players can choose any two wrestlers for a single match; Tournament Mode which allows up to four players to compete against each other in a tournament style bracket; Title Match Mode where players must win multiple matches in order to win the title belt; and Career Mode which allows players to create their own custom wrestlers and guide them through career ladder-style matches. In addition to these game modes there are also bonus games such as Memory Challenge where you must remember sequences of buttons that appear on screen; King Of The Ring where you must defeat three opponents back-to-back in order to become champion; and Survival Mode which requires you to defeat an endless stream of opponents within a time limit.
Each wrestler has unique entrance music playing when they enter the ring during bouts, as well as signature taunts which increase their meter allowing them access to special moves when full. There are also various cheat codes available that allow players access to hidden characters such as Macho Man Randy Savage or unlock additional costumes for existing wrestlers like Hulk Hogan’s classic red-and-yellow attire.
Overall WWF Super WrestleMania is an enjoyable experience for both novice gamers unfamiliar with wrestling titles or hardcore fans looking for an accurate simulation of the sport from its golden era in the early 90s. Its deep roster of superstars combined with varied match types make it an enjoyable experience for all levels of playability while its arcade style controls ensure it’s easy enough for anyone new to pick up quickly yet challenging enough for experienced veterans alike.
