Shadowrun is an action role-playing video game developed by BlueSky Software and released for the Sega CD/Mega-CD in 1993. It is based on the tabletop role-playing game of the same name and was one of the first games to combine traditional RPG elements with a first-person shooter.

The game is set in a cyberpunk future where technology has advanced to incredible heights, yet magic has also been rediscovered. The player takes on the role of Jake Armitage, a man who has recently awoken from a coma with no memory of his past. He discovers that he is now living in a world where megacorporations have taken control, and people are divided into two classes – those who live on the streets and those who live in wealthy corporate enclaves. As he investigates further, he finds himself caught up in a struggle between two powerful factions: one trying to take over the world, and another trying to restore freedom within it.

The gameplay of Shadowrun combines elements of both first-person shooters and traditional RPGs. Players explore cities and dungeons while engaging in combat against enemies using firearms, melee weapons, or magic spells. The game also features an inventory system which allows players to equip items such as armor or weapons in order to improve their character’s stats. Additionally, there are several sidequests which can be completed for rewards such as money or experience points.

In Shadowrun, players must manage their character's attributes such as Body (health points), Quickness (dexterity), Intelligence (magic resistance) and Charisma (influence over NPCs). They can also customize their character by allocating skill points towards different abilities such as firearms proficiency or magical aptitude. As they progress through the story, they will gain access to new weapons and equipment which can be used to increase their chances of survival against increasingly powerful foes.

While playing Shadowrun on Sega CD/Mega-CD systems, players can use either a controller or mouse/keyboard combo depending on their preference. The unique combination of RPG elements along with shooter mechanics makes this one of the most unique games available for these systems at the time. Its graphics were impressive for its time but were slightly hampered due to hardware limitations which caused some slowdown when too many enemies were present on screen at once. Despite this issue however, Shadowrun remains an enjoyable experience even today due to its intriguing story and interesting gameplay mechanics .
