Young Merlin is a top-down action-adventure video game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. Developed by Software Creations, and published by Titus Software, Young Merlin is set in the magical world of King Arthur’s court, where players take on the role of the titular character as he attempts to save Camelot from an evil sorceress.

The story begins with Merlin being sent to Camelot by his mentor, the wizard Nimue. Unfortunately, upon arriving in Camelot he learns that an evil sorceress named Morgana has taken control of the kingdom and plans to use her dark magic to bring chaos and destruction. To prevent this from happening, Merlin must find three powerful artifacts: The Sword Excalibur, The Shield of Kingship and The Golem’s Heart. He must also enlist help from various characters throughout the kingdom such as Sir Gawain, Lady Guinevere and King Arthur himself.

Gameplay in Young Merlin consists of exploring various environments, solving puzzles and battling enemies using a combination of spells and physical attacks. As players progress through the game they will encounter a variety of foes such as goblins, trolls and dragons which can be defeated by either attacking them directly or using magical spells which can be acquired by finding scrolls hidden throughout the levels. Players are also able to collect coins which can be used to purchase items from shops found throughout Camelot or upgrade their weapons at blacksmiths.

In addition to its single player campaign, Young Merlin also features a two-player cooperative mode where two players can join forces to complete levels together. This mode allows players to work together by helping each other solve puzzles or battle enemies more effectively than they could alone.
