PGA Tour Golf is a golf simulation video game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. Developed by EA Sports, it was the first game in their long-running PGA Tour series.
The game features seven courses from around the world including Pebble Beach and St Andrews, each with its own unique look and layout. Players choose from a variety of professional golfers to play as or create their own custom golfer. The game also includes multiple modes of play including stroke play, match play, skins, and tournaments.
Gameplay consists of using a combination of buttons on the controller to adjust the power and direction of your shots. The power meter swings back and forth indicating how hard you should hit the ball while an arrow indicates what direction you should aim for. Different clubs can be used depending on the situation and terrain, such as fairway woods for longer distances or irons for more accuracy. Once you’ve chosen your shot, a small animation will show your golfer taking a swing at the ball before it lands somewhere on the course. Depending on where you land, you may have to take another shot from that spot or else try again from further away. Hazards like sand traps and water hazards can add an extra challenge to each hole.
An overhead view is available which allows players to get an idea of where they want to aim their shots without having to actually take them yet. You can also zoom in closer to see exactly where your ball is located so that you can make more accurate shots when needed. Other features include adjustable wind speed and weather conditions which can affect how far your shots travel as well as various camera angles which allow players to view their shots from different perspectives.
Overall, PGA Tour Golf offers an enjoyable experience for any fan of golf games or sports simulations in general thanks to its realistic graphics and challenging gameplay mechanics. It remains one of EA Sports’ most popular titles even today due its immersive nature which allows players to feel like they are actually playing a real round of golf instead of just watching one unfold onscreen.
