Wolf Child is a side-scrolling action game developed by Core Design and released for the Sega CD/Mega-CD in 1992. The game follows protagonist Seth, a wolf-human hybrid who has been taken from his home in the forest by an evil scientist known as Dr. Kain. Seth must use his newfound powers to escape from Dr. Kain's laboratory and find his way back home to the forest.
The gameplay of Wolf Child is primarily focused on combat, with Seth using both his wolf form and human form to fight off enemies throughout the levels. In wolf form, Seth can attack with claws and bites, while in human form he can use various weapons such as swords, guns and grenades. As well as fighting enemies, the player must also traverse through various environments such as forests, caves, laboratories and more while avoiding traps and obstacles along the way. The game also contains various puzzles which must be solved in order to progress through each level.
The graphics of Wolf Child are quite impressive for a Sega CD/Mega-CD title; the characters are detailed and animate smoothly while the backgrounds feature vibrant colors and interesting designs. The soundtrack is composed by Tim Follin and features a mix of electronic music which fits perfectly with the fast-paced action of the game.
Overall, Wolf Child is an enjoyable action platformer that provides an enjoyable challenge for gamers looking for something different from traditional side-scrollers at the time. The visuals are great for its time, while its soundtrack adds atmosphere to its intense action sequences. With its unique blend of combat and puzzle solving elements, Wolf Child offers an experience unlike any other game available on the Sega CD/Mega-CD system at that time making it a must play for fans of side scrolling action games.
