The Lion King, The is a side-scrolling action-adventure game released for the Sega Game Gear in 1994. It was developed by Virgin Interactive and published by Sega. It is based on the popular Disney animated film of the same name and follows its plot closely.

Players take control of Simba, a young lion cub who must save his homeland from the evil Scar. The game has Simba running, jumping and fighting his way through various levels set in Africa's Pride Lands. Along the way he will encounter enemies such as hyenas, wildebeests and vultures which can be defeated with Simba's claws or by throwing rocks at them. There are also items to collect such as food, health pickups and power ups that give Simba extra abilities like a double jump or invincibility.

The level design is varied with some stages taking place in lush green jungles while others are set in dry deserts or inside dark caves. In addition to regular platforming sections there are also bonus levels where players must complete tasks within a certain time limit to earn points and power ups.

The game has two difficulty modes: Easy and Hard. On Easy mode players are given an unlimited number of lives while on Hard mode they only have three lives before having to start over again from the last checkpoint they passed. As well as this, after completing each level players can choose whether they want to continue their journey or return home (which ends the game).

Overall The Lion King, The is an enjoyable game that fans of both Disney's animated movie and platforming games should enjoy playing. It features colourful graphics, catchy music, challenging gameplay and plenty of secrets to uncover - making it a great choice for gamers looking for an engaging adventure experience on their Sega Game Gear console!
