Double Dragon is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed by Technos Japan and released by Sega for the Game Gear in 1991. The game is based on the classic Double Dragon arcade title, which was released in 1987. Double Dragon follows the story of two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, as they fight their way through various gangs of thugs to rescue Billy's girlfriend Marian from the evil Shadow Warriors gang.
The gameplay of Double Dragon is similar to that of the original arcade game, with players controlling one of the two Lee brothers as they battle through waves of enemies. Players can punch, kick and use various weapons such as whips and bats to defeat enemies. In addition to this, special moves can be performed when certain buttons are pressed in combination. These include a head butt attack, a knee strike and a backfist strike. As players progress through the levels, they will encounter more powerful enemies who require more skillful attacks to defeat them.
In addition to its single-player mode, Double Dragon also features a two-player co-operative mode where both players control one of the Lee brothers simultaneously. This allows them to team up against their enemies and perform special double team moves together such as a double spin kick or an elbow drop combo attack. Players can also pick up items throughout each level such as potions which give temporary invincibility or food which restores health points.
Overall, Double Dragon is an entertaining beat 'em up title with plenty of action packed into its levels. The co-operative mode adds an extra layer of fun and strategy to the game and makes it much more enjoyable than its single-player version. Overall, it's definitely worth playing for fans of classic video games or anyone looking for some action packed brawling fun!
