Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is a compilation of three classic side-scrolling action games released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). This compilation contains the original Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, and Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom. Developed and published by Tecmo, this trilogy was released in 1995 and has become a much sought after title among retro gamers.
The story follows Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja warrior on a mission to save his father from the evil Jaquio. Along the way, Ryu must battle numerous enemies and monsters while navigating treacherous stages filled with obstacles and traps. Players will face off against bosses such as Albatross, Ashtar, Wogel, and the Demon Lord himself. Each game features tight controls and intense combat that make them some of the best action titles on the SNES.
The gameplay of all three games is fairly similar; each one consists of eight levels where players must progress by defeating enemies and collecting power-ups. Ryu can use various weapons such as katana swords, shurikens, fists, nunchaku sticks, and fire wheels to defeat his foes. He can also use special ninja techniques such as wall climbing and double jumps to navigate through stages filled with hidden areas and secrets.
One unique feature exclusive to this compilation is an extra game mode called “Ninja Trials” which allows players to test their skills in timed challenges or survival modes. In addition to this there are also new secrets hidden throughout all three games including new weapons, items, power-ups and bonus levels which add even more replay value to an already packed package.
Overall Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is an excellent collection of classic action titles that still holds up today thanks to its tight controls and intense combat system. Fans of retro gaming will definitely want to check out this compilation if they haven’t already done so as it provides hours upon hours of entertainment across all three games included in this package!
