Out to Lunch is a 1994 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game developed by Software Creations and published by American Softworks Corporation. It is a top-down action-adventure game where players take control of the titular character, Lenny, who must traverse through various levels while collecting food items in order to reach the exit. The game has five stages, each with their own unique enemies and hazards, including falling rocks, slippery ice patches, and bottomless pits.
The objective of Out to Lunch is for players to help Lenny collect all of the food items in each level before exiting. As they progress through the levels, they can also find hidden treasure chests that contain bonus points or extra lives. Once all of the food items are collected and all enemies have been defeated, players must make their way to the exit door in order to complete the level.
Lenny starts out with three hearts which indicate his health status throughout the game. If he takes damage from enemies or certain environmental hazards such as fireballs or spikes, one heart will be lost and Lenny will need to find more food items in order to replenish his health status. Players can also collect power-ups that grant him temporary invincibility or increase his speed and jumping ability.
In addition to regular levels, Out to Lunch features several bonus rounds which offer additional points or bonus items if completed successfully. These bonus rounds consist of various mini-games such as shooting targets or racing against other characters. These bonus rounds become increasingly difficult as players progress further into the game and require quick reflexes in order for them to be completed successfully.
