Micro Machines 2 – Turbo Tournament is a classic Super Nintendo game released in 1994, developed by Codemasters. It is the sequel to the original Micro Machines released for the NES in 1991 and was one of the first racing games for the SNES. The game features a top-down perspective, with tiny cars racing around tracks made up of everyday objects such as kitchen sinks, bookshelves and desks. Players choose from eight different cars, each with their own unique handling characteristics, and can race against up to three computer controlled opponents or against another player via split-screen mode.
The single-player mode consists of several tournaments that are divided into four classes: Beginner, Amateur, Professional and Expert. Each tournament contains five races which must be completed in order to progress to the next class. Winning races earns points which can be used to purchase new cars or upgrade existing ones. In addition to the tournaments there are also two bonus modes; Time Trial and Elimination Challenge. Time Trial mode allows players to practice their skills on any track without competing against other racers while Elimination Challenge pits them against an ever increasing number of computer opponents until all but one have been eliminated.
The graphics in Micro Machines 2 – Turbo Tournament are simple but effective, with bright colors and detailed backgrounds that really bring each track to life. The music is upbeat and catchy too, adding an extra layer of energy to each race. The controls are straightforward enough for even novices to quickly get used to them but offer enough depth for experienced players too.
Overall Micro Machines 2 – Turbo Tournament is a great game that offers a lot of fun for both casual gamers and hardcore racers alike. It’s easy enough for anyone to pick up yet has enough challenge and variety to keep people coming back for more. If you’re looking for an entertaining racing game then this one is definitely worth checking out!
