Boxing Legends of the Ring is a classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) video game created by Electronic Arts in 1994. The game features eight real-life professional boxers from the 1950s to the 1990s, and allows players to assume the role of a boxer and compete against other boxers in a variety of matches.
The game's main mode is Career Mode, which allows players to create their own boxer with custom stats and attributes, as well as choose their training regimen and fight style. Players must then engage in numerous boxing matches across three different weight divisions - Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight. As they progress through the career mode, players can unlock additional boxers that can be used in exhibition games or tournaments. With each victory comes experience points which can be used to improve their boxer's skills and stats.
The game also includes an Exhibition mode where two players can select any of the available boxers for a one-on-one match as well as an Arcade Mode which pits the player against increasingly difficult computer opponents. During each match, players must use combinations of punches and defensive moves such as dodging or blocking to outmaneuver their opponent. The action takes place from a side view perspective with both fighters onscreen at once, allowing for dynamic camera angles during cut scenes between rounds or if one fighter lands a particularly powerful punch.
The eight real-life professional boxers featured in Boxing Legends of the Ring are Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Rocky Graziano, Jake LaMotta, Henry Armstrong and Kid Gavilan. Each boxer has unique attributes that reflect their real-life counterparts such as speed and power levels as well as physical appearance details like hairstyles and facial features. In addition to these iconic figures from boxing history, there are also several fictional characters including Ramon Rodriguez (the game's default character).
Overall, Boxing Legends of the Ring is an enjoyable SNES title that captures all the excitement of professional boxing while providing gamers with plenty of challenge through its various modes and difficulty settings. It's easy to pick up and play but difficult enough to keep seasoned players coming back for more punishment in the ring!
