The Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES, is one of the most beloved consoles in gaming history. It has been credited with helping to revive the video game industry after its crash in the early 1980s. One of the games that made the NES so popular was Strider.

Strider was released in December 1989 as a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Capcom. It follows the story of Hiryu, a super soldier known as a Strider who is on a mission to stop an evil dictator, Grandmaster Meio, from taking over the world. The player takes control of Hiryu and traverses through various levels while fighting off enemies and defeating bosses. The game featured fast-paced gameplay and intense boss battles that kept players engaged throughout their journey.

Strider was praised for its graphics, which were considered revolutionary for their time. The game featured detailed sprites, vibrant colors and smooth animation that helped bring its world to life. Its soundtrack also received critical acclaim for its catchy tunes and dynamic sound effects that perfectly complimented each stage.

Players had access to various weapons and special abilities such as the Cypher sword and Ouroboros robot companion which could be used to defeat enemies or navigate tricky terrain. Throughout their adventure they must also collect power-ups such as energy capsules, extra lives and invincibility stars in order to progress further into the game’s seven stages.

Strider was also praised for its innovative level design which required players to think strategically about how they approached each stage in order to progress further into the game without having to restart it completely from scratch should they fail at any point along their journey. This made it appealing for both experienced gamers and newcomers alike as it provided them with a challenge that could be tailored to their own skill level without making them feel overwhelmed or frustrated by difficult sections of gameplay.

Strider has left an indelible mark on gaming history thanks to its unique blend of action platforming and strategic level design which have since become staples of many modern titles today. Its success on the NES helped pave way for other classic Capcom titles such as Mega Man X and Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting which would eventually go on to become some of gaming’s most beloved franchises.
