Dragon Ball 3: Gokuu Den, released in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989, is a role-playing game based on the popular manga and anime series Dragon Ball. It follows the adventures of Son Gokuu, a young martial artist and his quest to find the seven mystical Dragon Balls. The game was developed by TOSE and published by Bandai, and was one of the first titles in the long-running Dragon Ball video game series.
The game begins with Son Gokuu living with his grandfather Gohan in the mountainous region of Mt. Paozu. One day while exploring a nearby cave he finds an old man who tells him about the legend of the seven magical Dragon Balls that can be used to grant any wish when collected together. After hearing this, Son Gokuu sets off on an epic journey across Japan to find them all before anyone else does. Along the way he meets many allies including Bulma, Yamcha, Puar, and Oolong as well as several enemies such as King Piccolo and Pilaf.
Gameplay consists of exploring various areas of Japan searching for items and fighting off enemies along the way. Each area contains several dungeons which must be explored in order to progress further into the game. As players explore they will encounter various enemies ranging from small animals to humans which they have to battle using their martial arts skills or weapons like sticks or swords found throughout each dungeon. Defeating enemies rewards players with experience points which allow them to level up and increase their strength and defense stats making them more powerful fighters.
In addition to regular battles there are also boss fights which require special strategies in order to win against much stronger opponents like King Piccolo or Pilaf’s henchmen. At certain points during these boss fights players may even have access to special moves like Kamehameha or other techniques learned from training under Master Roshi or Korin Tower depending on their current level.
Overall Dragon Ball 3: Gokuu Den is an entertaining role-playing game that provides players with hours of fun as they explore different areas of Japan while trying to collect all seven Dragon Balls before anyone else does. It also has plenty of replay value due to its multiple endings depending on how far you progress within each dungeon as well as its challenging boss fights that require careful planning in order to overcome them successfully. If you’re a fan of classic NES games then this is definitely one worth checking out!
