Magician is a classic action-adventure platformer game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System console. Developed and published by Konami in 1988, the game follows the story of a young apprentice wizard who must save his master from an evil demon lord. The player controls the apprentice as he travels through five different realms, fighting monsters and solving puzzles along the way. The game is known for its challenging gameplay and unique blend of platforming, exploration, and puzzle elements.
The story of Magician begins with the apprentice wizard being sent on a quest by his master to save him from an evil demon lord. Along the way, he must explore five different realms and battle monsters to reach his goal. The first realm is called “The Cave” and is filled with bats, spiders, snakes, and other creatures that must be defeated using magical spells. After defeating these enemies in each realm, the apprentice will gain access to additional areas where more powerful enemies await.
The second realm is “The Forest” which features more difficult enemies such as giant frogs and trolls that can only be defeated using special spells or items found during exploration. In this realm, there are also secret passages that lead to bonus levels where even more powerful enemies can be found. The third realm is “The Castle” which contains various bosses that must be fought before progressing further into the game. Finally, after completing all five realms, the player will face off against the demon lord in a final showdown to save his master.
Throughout Magician’s levels are various powerups such as extra lives or energy refills that can help make progress easier. Additionally, there are several hidden items scattered throughout each level that provide bonuses when collected such as extra points or magic spells that can increase damage inflicted on enemies. As well as powerups in levels there are also bonus stages which feature mini-games such as Whack-a-Bat or Balloon Pop where additional points can be earned if successfully completed within a certain time limit.
Overall Magician provides an entertaining experience for players of all ages with its challenging levels and unique blend of platforming, exploration and puzzle elements making it an enjoyable classic title for any NES library collection!
