The storyline follows Master Higgins as he sets out on another adventure to save his beloved Princess Leilani from evil forces. In this installment, Higgins must battle aliens who have invaded Adventure Island and are attempting to take over its inhabitants. To do so, he must use his trusty skateboard to traverse through eight different worlds filled with monsters, traps, and obstacles. He can also utilize various power-ups such as invincibility stars and bombs to help him defeat enemies. Throughout his journey, Higgins must also collect fruit in order to restore energy for himself and his friends.

The game’s visuals remain relatively unchanged from its predecessors; however, there are some new sprites that help add variety to the graphics of each stage. The soundtrack has been improved since the previous installment with more upbeat tunes that fit well with the game’s overall atmosphere. The controls are straightforward and easy to learn; however, they can be difficult at times due to Higgins’ limited movement abilities while on his skateboard.

Hudson’s Adventure Island III offers a lot of replay value due to its multiple levels and secrets hidden throughout each world. Players can also challenge themselves by attempting to complete levels faster than before or earning high scores for extra lives or bonus points.
