Hudson Hawk is a side-scrolling action platformer game developed by Ocean Software and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. The game is based on the movie of the same name starring Bruce Willis, which was released one year prior.
In Hudson Hawk, the player takes control of the titular character, Eddie “Hudson Hawk” Hawkins, as he attempts to break into five different locations around Europe. As he progresses through each level, Hudson must use his acrobatic skills to dodge traps and enemies while collecting various items such as coins and keys that will help him progress further. The game features five levels which are all set in different locations around Europe such as Italy, France, Germany and England. Each level contains its own unique set of obstacles and enemies that Hudson must overcome in order to reach his goal.
At the beginning of each level, Hudson will be given a list of objectives that must be completed before he can move onto the next stage. These objectives include tasks such as finding certain items or defeating specific enemies. As Hudson completes each objective, he will gain points which can be used to purchase upgrades for his abilities such as health regeneration or increased jump height. Once all of the objectives have been completed for a particular stage, Hudson must face off against a boss enemy before advancing to the next level.
Throughout each level, there are several power-ups that can be collected by Hudson in order to increase his health or temporarily boost his stats. There are also hidden areas throughout each stage which contain bonus items such as extra lives or weapons that Hudson can use against enemies or bosses.
The graphics in Hudson Hawk are simple but effective; they give an overall cartoonish look while still maintaining a feeling of realism within each environment. The soundtrack consists mostly of synthesized music with some catchy tunes playing during boss battles which add to the overall atmosphere of the game.
Overall, Hudson Hawk is an enjoyable action platformer for NES fans who want a challenge without too much frustration and difficulty getting in their way. With its fun gameplay and colorful visuals, it’s sure to provide hours upon hours of entertainment for anyone looking for an old school gaming experience on their NES system!
