Firehouse Rescue is a side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. The game is set in a large city, where a firefighting team of four firefighters must make their way through five stages, rescuing victims from burning buildings and extinguishing fires.
The player takes control of one of the four firefighters, each with their own unique abilities. The firefighter on the left can jump higher than the others, while the firefighter on the right can move faster. The two middle firefighters have no special abilities but are able to carry victims out of burning buildings. The goal of each stage is to save as many people as possible before time runs out.
The game features five different levels, each with its own unique challenges and hazards. In some levels, players must use ladders or ropes to reach higher floors, while in others they must break down walls or doors to get to trapped victims. As players progress through the game, they will encounter more dangerous obstacles such as fireballs and enemies that shoot flames at them.
Aside from rescuing people from burning buildings, Firehouse Rescue also requires players to extinguish fires using their water hose. To do this they must aim and shoot at flames while avoiding obstacles such as furniture and other objects that block their path. Players must also avoid falling debris which can cause them damage if it hits them directly. If a firefighter takes too much damage they will lose one life and be forced to start over from the beginning of the level.
Firehouse Rescue offers an exciting challenge for gamers looking for something different than typical platformers of its time period. It encourages players to think strategically about how they complete each level while rewarding them with bonus points for rescuing all victims in a stage before time runs out. With its diverse selection of levels and obstacles, Firehouse Rescue provides an enjoyable experience that can still be enjoyed today by retro gaming fans everywhere!
