Cool World is an action-adventure game released by Ocean Software for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1992. It was developed by British studio Bits Studios and published by Ocean. The game is based on the 1992 movie of the same name, which stars Brad Pitt and Kim Basinger.
The gameplay of Cool World takes place in a world populated with cartoon characters called "doodles". The player takes the role of Frank Harris, a human who has been transported to this world and must explore it while avoiding its inhabitants and hazards. The game consists of six levels that are divided into three stages each. In each stage, Frank must find the exit while collecting powerups, coins, and other items along the way. He can also battle enemies using his trusty slingshot or special weapons such as fireballs or bombs.
In addition to exploring and collecting items, Frank can also interact with some of the doodles he encounters in Cool World. By talking to them, he can get hints about where to go next or even purchase items from them such as health potions or extra lives. As Frank progresses through each level, he earns points that can be used to purchase upgrades for his weapons or buy new ones from certain stores found throughout Cool World.
Overall, Cool World is an interesting action-adventure game with plenty of exploration and unique characters to meet along the way. Its colorful visuals and soundtrack help bring the cartoon world of Cool World to life and create an enjoyable experience for players of all ages. While there are no major flaws with this title, some may find it too repetitive after a while due to its linear structure and lack of variety in terms of enemies encountered throughout the levels. Nonetheless, Cool World is still a fun NES classic that should not be overlooked by fans of old school gaming.
