World Series Baseball '95 is a sports game released for the Sega 32X in 1995. Developed and published by Sega, it is the first in the World Series Baseball series to be released on a home console. It features real Major League Baseball teams, players, and stats from the 1995 season, as well as a variety of gameplay modes including Exhibition, Season, Playoffs, All-Star Game, Home Run Derby and Practice.
The game's graphics are displayed in an isometric perspective with three-dimensional modeled players. All 28 Major League Baseball teams are present in the game with all their respective logos and uniforms accurately depicted. The game also allows for customization of player names and stats for use in Exhibition mode. Player stats are based on their performance during the 1995 season.
Gameplay consists of two teams playing against each other in a nine inning baseball game with five man pitching rotations which can be changed between innings. Players can choose from 4 different camera angles to view the action from: closeup behind home plate; far away above third base; behind the pitcher; or behind the batter. Offensively, batting is handled via a cursor system that allows players to select where they want to hit the ball when it is pitched. Defensively players control fielders who move around an isometric diamond trying to catch fly balls or line drives while also attempting to throw out runners at various bases. In addition to fielding, pitching involves selecting what type of pitch will be thrown as well as where it will go using an analog stick or d-pad.
World Series Baseball '95 also includes some unique features such as instant replay and a “showtime” feature which allows players to slow down time while they try to make difficult catches or throws. Additionally there are several mini-games included such as Home Run Derby where players compete against each other by hitting as many home runs as possible within three minutes and Practice mode which lets users practice their batting/pitching skills without having to play an entire game.
Overall World Series Baseball '95 provides an enjoyable experience for both casual gamers looking for some quick fun or more serious fans looking for deeper simulations of professional baseball games from the mid 90s era. With its accurate team rosters and detailed visuals it’s sure to please any fan of America’s pastime!
