NBA Jam Tournament Edition is a basketball game released for the Sega 32x in 1995. It is an update of the original NBA Jam, adding several new features and changes to the game. The main addition to this version is a tournament mode, allowing up to four players to compete in a tournament bracket. This mode can be played with either two or four players, and allows players to customize their teams and choose which teams they want to play against.
The gameplay remains largely unchanged from the original game. Players take control of two-player teams and compete against each other on a two-dimensional court. The goal of the game is still to score more points than your opponent by shooting baskets and blocking shots. However, some additional features have been added such as alley oops, turbo buttons, air dunks and goaltending rules that allow players to stop an opponent’s shot while it’s still in midair.
One of the biggest draws of NBA Jam Tournament Edition was its expansive roster of NBA stars from all 30 teams at that time. Players could choose from over 100 real-life professional basketball players, including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and many more. Additionally, there were secret characters that could be unlocked depending on how well you did in the tournament mode or by entering certain codes during gameplay.
Other additions to NBA Jam Tournament Edition include improved graphics compared to the original game and better sound quality due to its use of CD-quality audio tracks for music and sound effects. There are also more options for customizing your team’s look with different uniforms and logos available for purchase using an in-game currency system called “Jam Points”.
Overall, NBA Jam Tournament Edition was a great update to an already popular title that added plenty of depth and replay value for fans of the series. With its expanded roster of iconic NBA stars, improved visuals and sound quality, as well as its tournament mode feature making it perfect for competitive play with friends or family members; this version stands out as one of the best entries in the series.
