Tintin au Tibet is a side-scrolling platformer game based on the long-running comic series by Hergé. The game was released for the Sega Game Gear in 1991 and was developed by Infogrames. It follows the story of Tintin and his faithful canine companion Snowy, as they travel to Tibet in search of their lost friend Chang Chong-Chen.
The game features 8 levels which take place in various locations around Tibet. In each level, players must navigate their way through obstacles while avoiding enemies, such as wolves and snowmen. Along the way they can collect items such as coins, gems, and hearts that give them extra points. They must also find keys that open up passages to new areas. At the end of each level, there is a boss battle against one of Tintin’s adversaries from the comic series, such as Rastapopoulos or Allan Thompson.
Players control Tintin using either a D-pad or an optional control pad peripheral (sold separately). The objective is to reach the end of each level without losing all their lives. If this happens, players will have to start from the beginning again. Players can also use special power-ups scattered throughout each level that give them an advantage over enemies or allow them to access secret areas.
Tintin au Tibet has been praised for its colorful graphics and sound effects which accurately capture the atmosphere of Hergé’s comic series. The controls are considered easy to use and responsive, making it accessible to both experienced gamers and newcomers alike. The game has since become a cult classic among fans of both Tintin and platformers alike.
