Sonic Blast is a side-scrolling platformer game released for the Sega Game Gear in 1996. It was developed by Aspect Co. and published by Sega. The game follows Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends, Tails and Knuckles, as they battle Dr. Robotnik's forces to save the world from chaos.
The game features eight levels of action-packed platforming fun with various enemies to defeat along the way. Each level has its own unique theme, ranging from tropical beaches to icy mountainsides. The player must collect rings and power-ups while avoiding obstacles and enemies in order to progress through each stage. In addition, each character has their own special abilities which can be used to help make progress easier or more difficult depending on the situation.
Gameplay consists of running, jumping, and attacking enemies with punches or spin attacks as well as using special items like shields or invincibility stars to protect against damage taken from enemies or environmental hazards such as spikes or pits. As players progress through each level they will come across special items that can be collected such as Chaos Emeralds which are necessary for completing the game and unlocking additional content such as new characters or levels.
The graphics of Sonic Blast are fairly basic but still quite good for a handheld system at the time of its release. The music is upbeat and catchy, adding to the overall atmosphere of each level and setting up a sense of excitement when playing through them.
Overall Sonic Blast is an enjoyable classic game that provides plenty of fun for anyone who enjoys classic side-scrolling platformers with colorful characters and challenging levels. Even though it may not have aged quite as well as other titles released at the time, it still offers plenty of entertainment value that can keep players coming back for more.
