Mask, The is a 1995 action platformer video game developed by Hudson Soft and published by Seta Corporation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It is based on the 1994 American superhero film of the same name starring Jim Carrey.
In the game, players take control of Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) as he traverses various levels while wearing his magical mask. As Stanley, players must navigate through obstacles, enemies and traps while collecting items like power-ups, coins and masks to unlock new areas and progress through the game. Along with platforming elements, Mask features a variety of mini-games such as racing against an opponent in a minecart or destroying enemy tanks with rockets. Players can also transform into characters from the movie such as Milo the Dog or Peggy Brandt to gain access to special abilities that will help them progress through each level.
The visuals in Mask are mostly taken from its movie counterpart; colorful cartoon-like graphics featuring smooth animations and detailed environments. The music is composed by Tatsuya Nishimura who has worked on several other games including Bomberman 2 and Super Bomberman 4. Music tracks from the movie are also used throughout the game adding to its overall atmosphere.
Overall, Mask, The is an enjoyable action platformer for fans of the film or SNES gamers looking for a unique experience. With its charming visuals and soundtrack plus entertaining mini-games, Mask provides an entertaining adventure that will keep players coming back for more.
