Hardball III is a classic Super Nintendo sports game developed by Mindscape and released in 1994. The game is based on the popular Hardball series of computer baseball games, which were originally released for the PC in 1989. In Hardball III, players take control of a team of Major League Baseball (MLB) players and compete against other teams in an effort to win the World Series.
The game features all 26 MLB teams at that time, with realistic rosters and stats for each player. Players can choose to play in either single-player or two-player mode, and can customize their team's lineup, rotation order and batting order before each game. Additionally, players can customize their team's uniform colors, stadium and logo prior to starting a season or tournament mode.
Gameplay consists of controlling the on-screen characters from a top down perspective as they move around the field during batting and fielding sequences. During batting sequences, players must time their swings correctly to hit the ball, while also managing power bars which determine how far the ball will travel when it is hit. Fielding sequences involve using buttons to control different characters as they attempt to catch or throw balls to other players on the field. Players must also manage fatigue levels for their team's pitchers throughout each match.
In addition to playing regular season matches against computer opponents or another human player, Hardball III also includes a tournament mode where up to four teams compete against each other over multiple games in order to become tournament champions. The game also includes various options such as changing weather conditions as well as allowing players to save their progress mid-game so they can continue playing later on.
Overall, Hardball III is considered one of the best baseball games ever made for Super Nintendo due its realistic graphics and gameplay mechanics which remain enjoyable even today. It offers an entertaining experience for both casual gamers looking for a fun sports title as well as experienced gamers who appreciate its accurate representation of MLB rules and regulations.
