Combatribes, The is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Technōs Japan and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991. The game was released in Japan as simply "The Combatribes". It follows three brothers who are members of the Combatribe, a special police force created to take down the evil Mad Gear gang. Players take control of one of the three brothers and must battle their way through large levels filled with enemies.
The gameplay of Combatribes consists of players controlling one of the three brothers as they fight their way through various stages populated by Mad Gear gang members and other enemies. Players can move left or right and can attack enemies with punches, kicks, and jump kicks. Special moves such as headbutts, throws, and uppercuts can also be performed by inputting specific button combinations. In addition to enemy characters, players will also encounter destructible objects such as barrels or crates which can be destroyed to find items such as health or extra lives. Bosses appear at the end of each level and must be defeated before progressing to the next stage.
Combatribes features five different levels set in various locations such as a city street, an underground tunnel system, and a prison facility. Each level contains multiple sections where players must fight their way through waves of enemies before advancing to the next section. At certain points in each level there are also bonus rounds where players can earn extra lives or health by destroying all enemies on screen within a time limit. Upon completing a stage players are awarded points based on their performance which can then be used to purchase power-ups at an in-game store between levels. These power-ups range from increased attack strength to invincibility and allow players to customize their character’s abilities according to their own play style.
In addition to its single player mode, Combatribes also features two-player cooperative play where both players share a single life bar but have separate scores which are tallied up at the end of each level. This mode allows two people to experience all that Combatribes has to offer together while still competing for high scores against one another. Despite its cooperative play feature however Combatribes does not support any form of online multiplayer making it best suited for local co-op sessions with friends or family members rather than strangers over the internet.
Overall Combatribes is an enjoyable beat ‘em up featuring colorful visuals, fast paced action, and intense boss battles that make it stand out from other games in its genre. Its simple controls make it easy enough for anyone to pick up and play while its wide variety of power-ups provide plenty of replay value for those looking for more advanced challenges once they have mastered the basics of combatribalism . Whether you’re playing solo or with friends this classic SNES title is sure provide hours upon hours entertainment for all types gamers alike!
