Captain America and The Avengers is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed and published by Data East for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. Players assume the role of Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Vision, or Scarlet Witch as they battle against enemies from the Red Skull's criminal organization, HYDRA.

The game begins with a cutscene showing the Red Skull’s plans to take over the world with his powerful weapon called “The Cosmic Cube”. His plan is to use it to alter reality and create an army of robotic soldiers. The Avengers must stop him before it’s too late!

Players can choose from five different characters: Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Vision, and Scarlet Witch. Each character has their own unique abilities and strengths that will help them defeat their enemies. For example, Captain America has a shield that can be used to block enemy attacks or reflect projectiles back at them. Iron Man has powerful laser beams that can shoot down multiple targets at once. Hawkeye is an archer who uses his bow and arrows to attack from range while Vision has the ability to fly and fire energy blasts at his foes. Finally, Scarlet Witch has magical powers that allow her to cast spells on her enemies.

The levels are divided into seven stages across four different locations: A military base in Alaska; a jungle in South America; an underwater laboratory; and finally HYDRA’s secret base in New York City. Along the way players will have to battle hordes of robots and other enemies such as tanks, helicopters, giant crabs and even dinosaurs!

At the end of each stage players will face off against a boss character such as Baron Strucker or Magneto before moving onto the next level. Defeating these bosses requires careful planning as each one possesses unique abilities which require specific tactics in order to defeat them.

In addition to its single player mode there is also a two-player cooperative mode which allows two players to team up against their adversaries together. This makes for an even more exciting experience as you work together with your friend or family member in order to complete your mission!

Overall Captain America And The Avengers is an engaging beat 'em up title with great graphics, sound effects and music that still holds up today despite its age! It offers plenty of action-packed fun for both solo gamers looking for a challenge or those who want some cooperative gameplay with friends or family members alike!
