The game follows a brave knight, named Sir Arthur, as he fights his way through eight levels of intense action and adventure. The gameplay consists of Sir Arthur running, jumping and slashing his way through eight different levels featuring castles, forests, caves and more. Along the way he must battle a variety of enemies such as dragons, knights, trolls and other monsters. At the end of each level, players must defeat a boss character in order to progress. As players progress through the levels they can collect coins which can be used to purchase power-ups such as extra lives or additional weapons.

The graphics for BreakThru! are fairly basic but still quite good for its time. The characters are rendered with simple sprites but still look great on the SNES hardware. The background music is also quite catchy and adds to the atmosphere of each level.
