Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S - Jougai Rantou! Shuyaku Soudatsusen is a fighting game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995. Developed by Angel and published by Bandai, it is based on the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon anime series and features characters from the series as playable fighters. The game was released only in Japan and never localized to other regions.
The game’s story follows the Sailor Scouts as they battle against the evil forces of Queen Nehelenia. Players can choose from eight different characters to play as, each with their own unique abilities and movesets. The levels are all based on locations from the anime such as Tokyo Tower, Mugen Academy, and Infinity Academy. There are also several power-ups available during each match to give players an edge over their opponents.
Gameplay consists of two-on-two battles similar to SNK's Art of Fighting series. Each character has a health bar which depletes when they are attacked or blocked successfully by their opponent. When either player’s health bar is depleted, they lose the match and must start again from the beginning. Special attacks can be used at any time during a fight and require precise timing to pull off successfully. Additionally, there are super moves which use up some of the player's special meter that can be used to inflict massive damage on opponents if timed properly. After each round, players can choose to continue fighting or move onto another stage for a new challenge.
The graphics for Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S - Jougai Rantou! Shuyaku Soudatsusen are colorful and detailed with vibrant backgrounds inspired by locations from the anime series. The soundtrack also captures the feel of an early 90s fighting game with its upbeat tunes and sound effects that accompany special attacks and combos.
Overall, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S - Jougai Rantou! Shuyaku Soudatsusen is a solid fighting game that fans of the anime will enjoy playing through due to its faithful recreation of characters and stages from the show along with its fast-paced gameplay mechanics reminiscent of classic SNK titles like Art of Fighting 2 or Fatal Fury Special Edition . Despite being limited to just Japan upon release, it has since become more widely available through fan translations which makes it easier for non-Japanese speaking players to enjoy this hidden gem on their SNES console today
