Acrobat Mission is a side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game developed by Athena and published by Jaleco for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan in 1993 and North America in 1994. The game takes place in a fantasy world where the player controls a fairy named Acro, who must traverse through various levels while defeating enemies and rescuing other fairies.
The objective of the game is to progress through each level by shooting enemies, collecting power-ups, and avoiding obstacles. The player starts out with three lives, which can be lost if Acro touches an enemy or obstacle. Along the way, Acro can collect coins which can be used to purchase upgrades or items at shops found throughout the levels. Upgrades include extra lives, bombs, speed boosts, and special weapons such as lasers or fireballs. Items such as hearts and stars will grant invincibility for a short period of time.
The levels are divided into four worlds - Fireland, Waterland, Earthland, and Skyland - each with their own unique enemies and obstacles. At the end of each world is a boss fight that must be completed before progressing to the next one. Defeating bosses will also reward Acro with bonus items such as extra lives or power-ups.
Acrobat Mission features colorful graphics and catchy music that creates an exciting atmosphere throughout the game. The controls are simple to learn but difficult to master; they require quick reflexes and strategy in order to succeed. Although it may not have aged well compared to more modern shoot ‘em ups, Acrobat Mission remains an enjoyable experience for those looking for some classic gaming on their SNES console.
