The World Class Track Meet for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is a classic sports game that was released in 1988. It was developed and published by NCS Masaya, and it was one of the first games to utilize the NES’s four-player capability. The game features six different events: 100m dash, 110m hurdles, long jump, high jump, javelin throw, and 1500m run. Players can compete against each other or against computer-controlled opponents in any of these events.
The game takes place in fictitious “Olympic Stadium” where players can compete against up to three other competitors. Players have to choose their country before beginning a match, and they can pick from nine countries: the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Each country has its own set of athletes with varying levels of speed and stamina. During the competition players will have to use a combination of running techniques such as sprinting and pacing in order to win the race. They can also use power-ups such as “Pace Boosters” which gives them an extra burst of speed or “Power Drinks” which increases their stamina level temporarily.
The graphics in World Class Track Meet are simple but effective; although they may seem outdated today they still look great when compared to other 8-bit sports games from that era. The music is also quite good with some catchy tunes playing throughout the game which adds to its overall appeal.
World Class Track Meet offers a lot of replay value due to its multiple game modes including single player mode where you can practice your skills before competing against others; two player mode where you can challenge your friends; four player link mode where up to four people can play together over a network connection; and even a training mode where you can practice each event separately until you perfect your technique.
Overall World Class Track Meet is an excellent sports game for the NES system and it offers hours of fun for gamers who enjoy competitive track & field games. The controls are easy to get used to so anyone should be able to pick up the game quickly without having too much difficulty getting into it. With its simple yet engaging gameplay coupled with its nostalgic visuals and exciting music this is one classic 8-bit title that stands out from among all others on the NES console!
