Werewolf – The Last Warrior is a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) side-scrolling action game developed and published by Taxan in 1990. It was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in 2008.
The player controls a werewolf, named Wolf, who must make his way through eight levels of enemies and obstacles to save his homeland from an evil madman. Each level contains various enemies such as robots, goblins, and dragons that must be defeated with Wolf’s claws or magical spells. Wolf can also transform into a wolf man at will to access different areas of the game world.
At the start of the game, Wolf is confronted by an evil wizard named Tusk who has cursed him with lycanthropy and transformed him into a werewolf. In order to break the curse and restore his human form, Wolf must collect seven pieces of an ancient artifact known as the Moonstone. These pieces are scattered throughout the game world and require defeating various bosses to acquire them. Once all seven pieces have been collected, Wolf must confront Tusk in a final battle in order to break the curse and restore peace to his homeland.
Throughout the game, Wolf can acquire new abilities such as invincibility and more powerful attacks by collecting items dropped by defeated enemies or found in hidden locations within each level. He can also find health power-ups which allow him to take more damage before losing a life. These items can be used strategically to defeat stronger opponents or get past difficult obstacles. Additionally, some levels contain bonus stages where Wolf can earn extra lives or other rewards for completing certain objectives within a time limit.
Wolf’s adventure culminates in a climactic battle against Tusk himself where he must use all of his newfound powers and abilities if he hopes to succeed in breaking the curse and restoring peace to his homeland once again. Werewolf – The Last Warrior is an engaging side-scrolling action platformer that provides plenty of challenge for players of all skill levels thanks to its varied level design, challenging boss fights, and multiple ways of tackling each stage. Its unique setting makes it stand out from other NES titles at the time while its classic 8-bit visuals still provide plenty of charm today.
