Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight is an action-packed side-scrolling beat ‘em up game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1990. It was developed and published by Capcom, the same company that created the original Street Fighter arcade game. The game follows the story of a cyborg named Ken who travels through time to defeat evil forces in order to save mankind from total destruction.
The premise of Street Fighter 2010 is that in the year 2010, a powerful computer virus has infected the world’s computers, causing them to malfunction and eventually shut down. In response, a team of scientists have created a cyborg named Ken who is capable of traveling through time in order to locate and stop the source of the virus. As Ken travels through time he must battle powerful enemies and face off against bosses in order to save humanity from total destruction.
In terms of gameplay, Street Fighter 2010 plays like many other side-scrolling beat ‘em ups from its era, such as Double Dragon or Final Fight. Players control Ken as he moves from left to right across various stages while battling enemies with his fists and feet. Unlike most beat ‘em ups however, players can also use special attacks such as uppercuts and spinning kicks which are powered by energy collected from defeated foes. As well as fighting hand-to-hand, players can also pick up weapons such as knives or guns which can be used against enemies for extra damage.
As well as being able to travel through time, another unique feature of Street Fighter 2010 is that when players reach certain points on each stage they will encounter mini-bosses who must be defeated before progressing any further. These mini-bosses come in various shapes and sizes including robots, aliens and giant monsters - all with their own unique attack patterns which must be learnt before they can be defeated.
Overall Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight is an enjoyable side scrolling beat ‘em up game which offers plenty of challenge for experienced gamers whilst still remaining accessible enough for more casual players too. With its unique time travelling storyline, varied weapon system and tough boss battles it stands out amongst its peers as one of the most iconic NES games ever made - a true classic that remains fun to play even today!
