The Addams Family, The nintendo nes video game was released in 1992 to coincide with the release of the movie of the same name. It was developed by Ocean Software and published by Ocean Software and LJN. The game is a platformer where you control Gomez Addams as he explores the Addams Family Mansion and its grounds in order to save his family from their enemies, the Fester Gang. The goal of the game is to explore the mansion and its grounds while collecting items, solving puzzles, and defeating enemies in order to progress through each level.
The game consists of seven levels that take place in various areas around the Addams Family Mansion. Each level includes multiple stages that must be completed before progressing onto the next one. In each level there are various enemies that must be defeated in order to progress as well as items that can be collected for bonus points or additional health. Some levels also have puzzles that must be solved in order to proceed.
Throughout each level there are various power-ups that can be collected by Gomez such as extra life hearts, invincibility stars, and energy potions. Extra life hearts allow Gomez an additional chance at completing a stage if he loses all his health while invincibility stars make him temporarily invincible against enemy attacks. Energy potions restore some of his lost health when collected.
In addition to these power-ups there are also coins scattered throughout each stage which can be collected for bonus points or used at special shops found in certain levels to purchase additional items such as extra lives or special weapons like a boomerang or bombs which can help Gomez fight off enemies more effectively.
The graphics of The Addams Family NES video game were praised upon its release due to their colorful cartoon-like visuals which matched perfectly with the overall theme of the movie on which it was based on.
