Mega Man III is an action-platformer game developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was released in Japan in December 1990, and in North America and Europe in 1991. It is the third installment of the original Mega Man series.
The story follows Mega Man, a robot superhero created by Dr. Light to fight against the evil Dr. Wily’s robots. In this game, Dr. Wily has created eight new Robot Masters to take over the world, each with their own unique abilities and weaknesses. Mega Man must battle these robots one-by-one to collect their weapons and progress through the levels. The player can choose which order to tackle them in, allowing them to use certain weapons against certain enemies more effectively.
The gameplay is similar to previous games in the series: The player controls Mega Man as he traverses a side-scrolling level while avoiding obstacles and enemies along the way. They must defeat enemies by jumping on them or shooting at them with Mega Man’s arm cannon, which can be upgraded throughout the game by collecting power-ups found in various levels or dropped from defeated bosses. Defeated enemies will often drop energy capsules that restore health points when collected, as well as weapon energy capsules that give extra ammunition for Mega Man’s weapons.
In addition to standard platforming elements, some levels feature puzzles that require specific items or actions to complete them; these items may include keys or switches that open doors or activate platforms necessary for progression. There are also several special stages throughout the game where players can earn additional lives or power-ups if they complete them successfully.
Mega Man III features improved graphics compared to its predecessors, with larger character sprites on screen at once and more detailed backgrounds and environments; it also features enhanced sound effects, including digitized voices during boss battles and other cutscenes. As with all games in the series, it also includes two difficulty modes – Normal Mode for beginners and Hard Mode for experienced players – as well as two different endings depending on how quickly you complete it: A good ending if you complete it quickly enough, and a bad ending if you take too long!
