Kaguya Hime Densetsu (The Legend of Princess Kaguya) is a side-scrolling action-adventure game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989.
Developed by TOSE and published by Bandai, the game follows the story of a young princess named Kaguya who embarks on a quest to save her kingdom from destruction.
The game was well-received at its time, and is considered one of the best NES games ever made.
The story of Kaguya Hime Densetsu takes place in a mythical land ruled by Queen Kaguya, who is gifted with magical powers.
Her kingdom has been invaded by an evil force known as Dark Lord Akujin, whose goal is to take over the world.
To protect her people, Queen Kaguya seals away her own daughter – Princess Kaguya – inside a crystal and sends her off to another world.
Now it's up to Princess Kaguya to make her way back home and save her kingdom from Akujin's forces.
Gameplay in Kaguya Hime Densetsu revolves around exploration and puzzle solving as players traverse through various levels filled with enemies and obstacles.
The main character has access to several weapons such as swords, boomerangs, fireballs, and lightning bolts which can be used against foes.
In addition to these weapons, there are also various power-ups that can be collected throughout the game which will provide additional strength or abilities for Princess Kaguya during her journey.
Kaguya Hime Densetsu features several unique elements that set it apart from other NES games of its time.
For instance, instead of having health points like many other action games on the system did at the time, players had to collect “Life Orbs” which would restore their health whenever they were damaged in combat or when taking damage from certain environmental hazards such as spikes or lava pits.
Additionally, there were also special items called “Magical Keys” which could unlock doors leading to secret areas containing bonus power-ups or extra lives.
Kaguya Hime Densetsu also included an innovative password system that allowed players to continue their progress after losing all their lives or turning off the console.
This feature was a welcome addition since it prevented players from having to start each level over again every time they died or shut off their console; instead they could simply enter their password and continue playing right where they left off! Overall, Kaguya Hime Densetsu is an excellent example of classic NES gaming at its finest.
The combination of exploration, puzzle-solving and action makes for an enjoyable experience that stands up even today; plus its innovative password system makes it easier than ever before for players old and new alike to continue enjoying this classic title anytime they want!
