Final Fantasy III is one of the most beloved and iconic role-playing games of all time. Released in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Final Fantasy III was the first game in the series to introduce a number of important features that would become staples of the franchise, such as the job system and summoned monsters. It also introduced many of the characters and creatures that have become beloved by fans over the years, including Cid, Moogles, Chocobos, and more.
The story follows four orphaned youths who are chosen by a mysterious crystal to save their world from a powerful evil force. The four set off on an epic journey to defeat this force and restore peace to their world. Along the way they must battle powerful enemies, explore dungeons, collect powerful weapons and items, learn new spells and abilities, recruit allies to join their cause, and ultimately face off against their ultimate foe.
The game is divided into two parts: an overworld map where you explore towns and dungeons, and a turn-based battle system where you fight enemies using your party’s abilities. The game features a job system which allows each character to take on different jobs such as black mage or monk in order to gain experience points and learn new skills. You can also summon powerful monsters known as “Espers” during battles in order to help your party defeat tougher foes.
In addition to its gameplay mechanics, Final Fantasy III also featured beautiful graphics for its time as well as an unforgettable soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu. The game also has multiple endings depending on certain choices made throughout the game’s story.
Since its original release in 1990, Final Fantasy III has been re-released numerous times across various platforms such as PlayStation Portable (PSP), iOS devices, Android devices, Nintendo DS systems, Steam (PC), PlayStation Vita (PSVita) , Wii U Virtual Console (WiiU), Nintendo 3DS systems (3DS). Each version offers enhanced visuals compared to its predecessor while still maintaining much of what made it so beloved originally.
Overall Final Fantasy III is one of those games that stands out above all else due to its timelessness and influence within video gaming culture today. Its important features such as job system still remain relevant even after 30 years since it was first released while its memorable characters continue to be some of the most iconic figures in gaming history today.
