Felix the Cat is a side-scrolling platform video game developed by Hudson Soft and published by Konami in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game is based on the cartoon character of the same name, which first appeared in 1919. In this game, Felix must save his friend Professor Whoopee from the evil Doctor Terminus.
The player takes control of Felix as he navigates through various levels in order to rescue Professor Whoopee. Each level consists of multiple stages which involve navigating obstacles and enemies in order to reach the end goal. Along his journey, Felix can collect items such as coins, power-ups and extra lives that help him progress further into the game. He also has two special moves at his disposal – a pounce attack and an invincibility spin jump – to help him defeat enemies and traverse certain areas.
The overall objective of Felix the Cat is to complete each level by reaching its end goal while collecting all of its items along the way. The player can also collect additional points by defeating enemies or taking part in mini-games located throughout each stage. Every few levels, Felix will face off against a boss who must be defeated before progressing further into the game. After completing all eight worlds, Felix will confront Doctor Terminus and rescue Professor Whoopee from his clutches, thus completing the game.
Felix the Cat contains colorful visuals combined with simple yet challenging gameplay that appeals to fans of classic platformers alike. Its unique art style captures the spirit of its source material perfectly while providing players with enough challenge to keep them engaged throughout their playthroughs. Despite being released over 25 years ago, it continues to remain a popular title among NES gamers for its nostalgic charm and satisfying gameplay experience that stands up even today.
