Cosmic Spacehead is a video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. Developed and published by Codemasters, the game follows the adventures of an alien named Cosmic Spacehead who crash lands on Earth. The goal of the game is to help Cosmic find his way home by collecting various items and solving puzzles.
Cosmic Spacehead starts off with a brief introduction to our protagonist, an alien from the planet Zog. After being caught in a meteor shower, Cosmic crash-lands on Earth and finds himself in a strange new world full of humans, animals, robots, and other aliens. His mission is to explore this new environment and find his way back home. To complete this task he must collect items, solve puzzles, and interact with the locals.
The game itself is divided into two different parts: exploration and puzzle-solving. During exploration mode players are free to roam around various locations such as towns or caves while searching for items or clues that will help them progress further in their quest. On each screen there are several objects which can be interacted with including doors, switches, levers etc., which can lead to secret areas or trigger special events when used correctly. There are also NPCs (non-player characters) present who may offer useful information or tasks that need completing before progressing further in the game.
Once certain objectives have been completed during exploration mode players then move onto puzzle-solving mode where they must use their collected items to solve various puzzles which block their path home. These puzzles range from simple memory games to more complex logic problems requiring careful thought and planning before solving them successfully. Additionally some puzzles require players to combine two or more items together in order to progress further into the game’s story line or acquire key items needed for later levels of play.
Overall Cosmic Spacehead offers an enjoyable experience for gamers of all ages due its combination of exploration elements and challenging yet rewarding puzzle-solving mechanics. Although it may appear simplistic at first glance it quickly becomes apparent that much thought has gone into creating an engaging yet accessible title suitable for all NES owners looking for a unique adventure game experience from start to finish.
