Big Bird’s Hide & Speak is an educational video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is based on the popular Sesame Street character Big Bird, and was released in 1989 by Hi-Tech Expressions. The objective of the game is to help Big Bird find his lost words by exploring his environment and solving puzzles.

The game begins with Big Bird discovering that all of his words have gone missing. He sets off to explore different locations around Sesame Street in order to find them. Along the way he meets other characters from the show, including Ernie, Bert, Grover and Oscar the Grouch. Each of these characters gives Big Bird clues about where he might find his lost words.

In each location, there are various puzzles which must be solved in order for Big Bird to progress further in his quest. These puzzles involve logic, problem solving and language skills such as spelling and grammar. For example, one puzzle might involve rearranging a set of letters to spell out a word or phrase; another puzzle might involve counting objects or finding hidden items within a scene.

Once all of the puzzles have been solved in a particular location, Big Bird finds one of his lost words and can move on to the next area. As he progresses through the game, more difficult puzzles are encountered which require advanced language skills such as homophones or parts of speech identification.

In addition to helping Big Bird locate his lost words, players can also play two mini-games which appear throughout the game: Word Matching and Alphabet Memory Matching. In Word Matching, players must match pairs of words related by meaning or sound; while in Alphabet Memory Matching they must remember sequences of letter tiles shown on screen in order to recreate them later on.

Big Bird’s Hide & Speak provides a fun and educational gaming experience for children aged four years old and up. With its colorful graphics and simple yet challenging puzzles it encourages problem solving skills while introducing basic language concepts such as spelling and grammar in an entertaining way.
