Bases Loaded II: Second Season is a baseball video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) released in 1989. It was developed and published by Jaleco. The game was later released on the Wii Virtual Console in North America.
Bases Loaded II: Second Season is a sequel to the original Bases Loaded, and features improved graphics, more team options, and better gameplay mechanics than its predecessor. Players are able to choose from 12 teams with individual stats such as fielding ability and batting average. There are also three difficulty settings that affect how hard it is for players to hit and pitch against the computer-controlled opponents.
Players can choose from two different modes of play: Exhibition or League mode. In Exhibition mode, players can select a single game to play, while League mode allows players to set up a full season of games with up to four teams competing against each other over an entire season. Both modes of play feature customizable rules such as whether innings will be limited by time or number of outs, allowing for more traditional or arcade-style play.
The game itself is played from an overhead view, similar to many sports games released on the NES at the time. On-field action takes place in real-time as players move their characters around using either the directional pad or joystick controller. The A button is used to select menu options while the B button is used to throw pitches and swing bats during gameplay. When pitching, players must decide which type of pitch they want to use before selecting where they want it thrown; when batting, they must judge how well their swing will connect with the ball based on timing and direction of their swing.
Bases Loaded II: Second Season also features several mini-games which can be unlocked by completing various tasks throughout gameplay such as hitting home runs or winning games in League mode. These mini-games include batting practice, pitching practice, target range shooting, speed burst tests and more; these provide extra challenge for experienced players looking for something extra out of their gaming experience with Bases Loaded II: Second Season.
Overall, Bases Loaded II: Second Season provides an enjoyable experience for fans of baseball simulation games thanks to its improved visuals compared to its predecessor as well as its variety of customizable rules and unlockable mini-games that add replay value beyond what was available in earlier titles in this series.
