Play Ring King Online
Ring King is a classic boxing game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985.
It was developed and published by Data East, and was one of the first boxing games available on a home console.
The game features single-player and two-player modes in which players take control of a boxer and compete to become "The Ring King".
In the single-player mode, players must fight their way through four opponents, each with increasing levels of difficulty.
The player can choose from three different boxers: Joe, Tom, or Bob.
Each boxer has different attributes that affect how they perform in the ring.
For example, Joe is more powerful but slower than Tom or Bob, while Tom is faster but less powerful than Joe or Bob.
After defeating all four opponents the player will face off against the Ring King himself.
To win the match, players must knock out their opponent three times before they themselves are knocked out three times.
The two-player mode allows two people to compete against each other using either one of the three available boxers or both at once (in tag team mode).
In this mode, there are no rounds; instead both players must try to knock out their opponent as many times as possible within a set time limit.
As with the single-player mode, each boxer has different attributes that affect how they perform in battle.
In addition to its gameplay mechanics, Ring King also featured some unique graphics for its time period.
All characters were represented by large sprites that moved smoothly across the screen during matches and cut scenes between rounds were accompanied by digitized narration from an announcer.
These graphics helped to give Ring King an arcade feel that was not common among NES games at the time.
Ring King was well received upon its release and became one of Data East's most successful titles for the NES platform.
It spawned several sequels including Super Ring King (1986), World Championship Boxing (1987), International Superstar Soccer (1988) and Final Bout (1989).
Although it has not been re-released since its original release date it remains fondly remembered by fans today as a classic NES title with exciting gameplay and unique graphical style
