Arkanoid II is a classic arcade game released by Taito Corporation in 1986 and later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. It is the sequel to the original Arkanoid, which was released two years earlier. The game follows a similar format to its predecessor, with the player controlling a paddle at the bottom of the screen and using it to deflect a ball around the stage in order to break all of the blocks above them. The main difference between Arkanoid II and its predecessor is that this game features multiple levels, each with their own unique power-ups and enemies.
The objective of Arkanoid II is for players to clear all of the blocks on each level before running out of lives or losing control of their paddle. This can be done by deflecting the ball into each block until it breaks apart and disappears from view. Players must also avoid enemies that will attempt to hit them or take away their lives if they come into contact with them. If a player loses all three of their lives, then they must start from the beginning again.
Arkanoid II offers several different power-ups which can help players progress through each level faster or make it easier for them to clear blocks quicker. These include extra lives, longer paddles, and bonus points for clearing certain sections quickly. There are also bonus rounds where players can earn even more points by defeating certain enemies or completing mini-games within a set time limit.
The graphics in Arkanoid II are much improved over its predecessor, featuring detailed sprites and backgrounds that add to the overall feel of playing an arcade game on your home console. The soundtrack consists of upbeat tunes that get you in the mood for some intense brick breaking action! The controls are easy to learn and responsive enough so that you don’t have any trouble maneuvering your paddle around each stage.
Overall, Arkanoid II is an excellent follow up to its predecessor and still holds up today as one of the best brick breaking games available on any platform. With its improved graphics, catchy soundtrack, varied power-ups, and challenging levels; it’s no wonder why this game has remained popular over 30 years after its initial release!
