Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is an action-adventure game based on the 1991 film of the same name. It was released for the Game Boy in 1992 and developed by Ocean Software. The game follows the story of Robin Hood, a legendary outlaw who robs from the rich to give to the poor.
The game starts off with Robin Hood being released from jail by his father, Lord Locksley. He then sets out on a quest to save Maid Marian from her captors, Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Along the way, he must battle bandits and other enemies while also solving puzzles and gathering items necessary for his mission.
The gameplay consists mostly of puzzle-solving and platforming elements as well as some combat. Players can use various weapons such as swords, axes, and bows to fight enemies or solve puzzles. Players are also able to jump over obstacles or use ladders to reach higher platforms. As players progress through levels they will gain access to new items which can help them complete their goals such as keys that unlock doors or bombs that can blow up walls blocking their path.
Throughout each level there are bonus items which grant players extra points when collected. These points can be used at special shops located throughout each level where players can purchase items such as health potions or arrows for their bow. Players will also find hidden bonus levels which contain additional items and coins which can be used at the shop as well.
The graphics in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves are quite good for a Game Boy title with colorful backgrounds and detailed sprites for characters and enemies alike. The music is also fitting for each area with some upbeat tunes playing during battles or more somber pieces during quieter moments in the game’s story sections.
Overall, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is an enjoyable action-adventure game for Game Boy owners looking for some old school platforming fun with a classic tale behind it all. With challenging puzzles, plenty of bonus content, and engaging combat this is one title that fans of both genres will enjoy playing through again and again!
