Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, or “For the Frog the Bell Tolls” is an adventure game developed by Nintendo for the Game Boy and released in Japan in 1992. It was later ported to the Super Famicom and released in North America as The Legend of the Mystical Ninja.

The game starts off with a young man named Goemon who lives in a small village near Edo (modern day Tokyo). He is tasked with finding five magical bells that have been stolen from his village by an evil warlord. In order to do so, Goemon embarks on an adventure through different areas of feudal Japan, facing off against numerous enemies and solving puzzles along the way. As he progresses through his quest, Goemon learns more about himself and his destiny.

The game features a top-down view similar to other classic action-adventure games such as The Legend of Zelda. Players can explore various towns, fields, and dungeons while gaining new items and abilities that help them progress further into their quest. Along the way they will encounter enemies which must be defeated using an array of weapons including swords, bombs, and even robots. Additionally, there are mini-games scattered throughout each area which can be completed for additional rewards such as extra experience points or money.

Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru offers players a unique blend of RPG elements mixed with action-adventure gameplay. Its colorful graphics and charming soundtrack make this title a classic among Game Boy fans everywhere. Although it may not have aged quite as well as some other titles from its era due to its somewhat clunky controls and outdated visuals, Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru remains an enjoyable game that stands out amongst its peers due to its charming story and innovative gameplay mechanics.
