Final Fantasy Legend II is an action role-playing game released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1990. Developed by Square, it is the sequel to Final Fantasy Legend and part of the SaGa series, which was known as the Final Fantasy series outside Japan. The game follows a group of four adventurers on their quest to save their world from destruction.
The game begins with the player selecting one of four characters to control: a Human, Mutant, Monster, or Robot. Each character has different stats and abilities that can be customized throughout the course of the game. The player then sets out on a journey across four towers in order to save their world from destruction. Along the way they must battle monsters and bosses while searching for weapons and items that will help them progress through each tower.
Unlike its predecessor, Final Fantasy Legend II features an expanded storyline that includes multiple endings based on how well you progress through each tower. The story centers around four main characters who are united by fate to save their world from destruction. During their journey they meet new allies as well as enemies and eventually discover the truth behind their mission.
Gameplay wise, Final Fantasy Legend II follows a similar structure to its predecessor though it adds some new elements such as an improved battle system with more tactical options and better enemy AI. Additionally, there is a greater emphasis on exploration as players must search for hidden items and equipment in order to progress further into each tower.
One of the major changes between FFL2 and its predecessor is the addition of character classes which allow players to specialize in specific roles such as magic users or melee fighters depending on their selection at character creation time. As players level up they can also upgrade their class allowing them access to more powerful abilities and spells depending on which class they choose.
Overall, Final Fantasy Legend II is an excellent RPG for those looking for a classic experience on the go thanks to its portability on Nintendo’s Game Boy handheld system. With its engaging story, expansive world-building, interesting characters, deep customization options, challenging battles and unique class system; this game provides hours upon hours of entertainment and replay value for those looking for something truly special in an RPG experience.
