Turok 3 – Shadow of Oblivion is a first-person shooter video game developed by Acclaim Studios Austin and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.
The game is the third installment in the Turok series, following Turok: Rage Wars.
It was released in North America on October 10, 2000.
The story of Turok 3 – Shadow of Oblivion takes place after the events of Turok: Rage Wars.
In this game, players take control of Tal'Set (the main protagonist from the first two games) as he embarks on a quest to restore peace to the land of Primagen and prevent it from being destroyed by an alien force known as “The Primagen”.
The player must battle their way through numerous levels while using various weapons such as a bow, knife, shotgun, and more.
As they progress through the game, they will encounter various enemies such as dinosaurs, aliens, and cyborgs.
Players have access to several different gameplay modes including single-player campaign, deathmatch mode, cooperative mode for up to four players via link cable connection and survival mode where players must survive against waves of enemies with limited ammunition and health packs scattered throughout each level.
Players can also customize their character's appearance by selecting from a variety of different skins including Native American warriors or futuristic cyborgs.
The graphics in Turok 3 – Shadow of Oblivion are presented in 2D sprites and backgrounds with some areas containing pre-rendered 3D objects.
The music is composed by veteran video game composer Tommy Tallarico who has worked on many other classic games such as Earthworm Jim and MDK2.
The sound effects are also well done with various weapons having distinct sounds when fired or reloaded.
Overall, Turok 3 – Shadow of Oblivion is a great addition to the Turok series that provides an engaging story with plenty of action-packed combat sequences throughout its many levels.
The graphics may be dated but still look good enough for it to be enjoyable even today while the sound design is top notch with some memorable tunes and satisfying sound effects accompanying all your battles throughout the game.
