Battle Tanx is a turn-based strategy game for the Nintendo Game Boy Color, released in 1998. The game was developed by 3D0 and published by Tiger Electronics. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where tanks are the only viable form of transportation. Players control a group of tanks and must battle against other tank forces to achieve their objectives.

The game’s story takes place in the year 2049, after a nuclear war has decimated much of the Earth’s population. In the aftermath, two major factions have emerged: the Global Assault Team (GAT) and the National Defense Force (NDF). The GAT is led by General Plastro, while the NDF is led by Commander Elmo Jones. The two forces fight an ongoing battle over resources and territory, with each vying for control of what remains of civilization.

Players take on the role of one of four tank commanders from either side, each with different strengths and weaknesses. As they progress through the game, they must battle their way through various levels while completing various objectives such as destroying enemy bases or rescuing hostages. Along their journey, they will encounter other tanks that can be recruited into their own squad if they are defeated in battle. These recruits can then be upgraded with new weapons and armor to become more powerful allies in future battles.

Battle Tanx features three distinct types of gameplay: campaign mode, skirmish mode, and tournament mode. In campaign mode, players progress through a series of levels as they work towards completing their final objective: defeating General Plastro or Commander Jones depending on which side they chose at the beginning of the game. Skirmish mode allows players to jump into any level they have previously completed for quick battles against computer-controlled opponents or other human players via link cable connection. Finally, tournament mode pits up to four players against each other in a free-for-all deathmatch style competition for bragging rights as well as bonus items that can be unlocked upon completion of certain levels in campaign mode.

Overall Battle Tanx is an enjoyable strategy title that offers something unique compared to similar titles available on Game Boy Color at its time; it also provides enough challenge to keep gamers engaged throughout its lengthy campaign mode while offering plenty of replay value thanks to its various modes and unlockable items. It is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for an entertaining turn-based strategy title for your Game Boy Color library!
