Lunar Legend is a classic role-playing game released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2002. Developed by Japanese developer, Game Arts, it is part of the Lunar series and is a remake of the original Lunar: The Silver Star from 1993. The game follows the adventures of Alex, a young man who dreams of becoming a great hero like his father before him. Along with his friends Luna and Ramus, Alex embarks on an epic journey to save the world from the evil forces of Ghaleon.
The story follows Alex as he discovers that he must find four magical orbs in order to restore peace to Lunar. With help from Luna and Ramus, as well as many other helpful characters such as Ghaleon’s former friend Nash and the mysterious dragonmaster Dyne, Alex sets out on an adventure that will take him to all corners of Lunar. Along the way he will encounter fierce monsters, powerful magic spells, ancient ruins and other dangers that stand between him and his goal. As he progresses through his quest, Alex learns about the history of Lunar and its inhabitants while also developing relationships with those he meets along his journey.
Gameplay in Lunar Legend consists mostly of traditional turn-based combat against enemies encountered randomly or during story events. Players can use various weapons, armor and items to gain an advantage in battle while also using magic spells to damage multiple foes at once or heal their own party members when needed. Unlike some other RPGs, players are able to switch between different characters during battles which can be beneficial depending on what type of attack or defense each character has access to at any given time. Additionally, players can equip special abilities called “Mystic Arts” which grant them bonuses in battle such as increased attack power or healing capabilities.
The graphics in Lunar Legend are fairly simple but still charming due to its anime-style art direction featuring bright colors and detailed character designs reminiscent of classic RPG titles like Final Fantasy IV or Chrono Trigger. The soundtrack features original compositions by composer Noriyuki Iwadare that have become iconic among fans due to their catchy melodies and grandiose arrangements that perfectly capture the game’s fantasy setting with sweeping orchestral pieces that give it an epic feel throughout its entire duration.
Overall, Lunar Legend is an excellent RPG experience for both newcomers and veterans alike thanks to its memorable characters and story combined with strategic turn-based combat mechanics offering plenty of variety for both casual players looking for a fun adventure as well as hardcore RPG fans seeking more challenge from their games. It may be over fifteen years old now but it remains one of the best role-playing games available for the Game Boy Advance console even today!
