Final Fight CD is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed by Capcom for the Sega CD/Mega-CD in 1993. It is a remake of the original 1989 arcade game, Final Fight. The game features three playable characters: Cody, Guy and Haggar. Players can choose one of the three characters to battle their way through five levels filled with thugs and gangs. Each character has their own unique moves and abilities that can be used to defeat enemies.
The game's plot follows the same as the original arcade version; street fighter Cody has been framed for a crime he didn't commit and must fight his way through Metro City's criminal underworld to clear his name. Along the way, he meets allies such as Guy, an expert martial artist; and Mayor Mike Haggar, who is determined to clean up Metro City's streets. Together they must battle against gangs such as Mad Gear, led by Belger; Yakuza, led by Rolento; and Skull Cross, led by Abigail.
The gameplay of Final Fight CD remains largely unchanged from its predecessor but does feature some new additions. These include two new bosses (Sodom and Roxy) as well bonus levels where players can take on bonus stages for extra points or power-ups. In addition to this, players can now save their progress using passwords which allow them to continue from where they left off later on.
Graphically speaking, Final Fight CD looks much better than its predecessor due to its use of sprite scaling technology which gives it more color depth and detail than was possible in the original version. The music also sees an upgrade with all new orchestrated tracks that are much more fitting with the action on screen compared to some of the more generic tunes found in the original arcade version.
Overall, Final Fight CD is a great remake of an already classic side-scrolling beat 'em up title that improves upon its predecessor in almost every way imaginable while still retaining what made it so popular in the first place – fast paced action packed gameplay combined with colorful graphics and catchy music that will keep you entertained for hours on end!
